Secondary LatchingThe Barbed Latching system was developed to reduce the likelihood of cowlings separating from the airframe when the primary latches are incorrectly latched.

The primary Latching system is a conceptual design exploiting all the advantages of the secondary latching above and achieving a primary latching function. Great interest has already been shown in this conceptual design which is being evaluated for feasibility studies.
